you yourself aren't givin permission to advertise. even though guild wars recognizes the site dosent mean they want people advertiseing them in game.

As far as I know the user end licence agreement - too tired to look it up right now, but I believe it says somewhere you can't advertise any outside sources, not even a fansite or gwiki for that matter O_O
Still, I have to ask, were you advertising in a way that could be perceived by some triggerhappy /report police as 'spamming'?
EDIT: On a personal note, it's these kind of things that make me sick and fed up with gw. They should be banning the real troublemakers instead of banning anyone who didn't read the fineprint at the bottom of page 53 of the user agreement =_=

It could also be because you use Symantec/Norton and browse with Internet Explorer. :P
But seriously, that kind of crap is pathetic. These sort of trivial "bannings" are why I quit playing. I found a nice free high rate (15x) WoW server and have been enjoying it much more than GW.

I think guildwiki is allowed, since it's built in the game (f10)

I hope you can get this sorted out Rudhraighe. Worst case scenario, you're out of the game for two weeks, but this really shouldn't have happened.

Unless you were yellling to the top of your lungs, like those spamers/gold sellers that never quit. But if you were suggesting the site to someone as a reference, like I have done before many, many times, I do understand there's something wrong going on here.
Your account suspended for 14 days to help a ppl? I dont agree.
But if you were like "Visit ....... "over and over that's advertising.

I don't suppose you've sent a ticket to support going "what the shit, it's a fan site?"
If you do, post what they say.

Are you sure they banned you for advertising guru, specifically? Did you have an email specifying that was the reason?
Seems very odd to me - unless you were spamming the link. Even then, 2 weeks is rather excessive

Sorry to say but that's retarded, banning someone for advertising a fansite that Anet members frequent THEMSELVES, how about they add an option in the report feature to report those spammers in Temple of Balth selling Money, I'll be more than happy to ban their asses. I can't stand this, banning innocent players.

It's probably better just not to advertise. Especially in all chat. At least 14 day ban > perma ban. Send an e-mail to anet and see if you can get it unbanned.

Sadly it looks like a good reason to keep local and trade chat off.
Just lay low play with guildies or heroes and don't ever ever look anyone in the eye. You might be misunderstood. Or is that chat in the eye
Either way from what I remember in 2005/06 until today it sure changed.
Guess it was good I started to move on when I did

Wow. if this was an automatic banning for advertisiong and anet is doing this automatically, you know checking for www... or something like that, at least they should have someone go thru the listing before banning anyone.
This again if that was the reason they banned you.

A few Nights ago i got my first Code=045(Suspended).
I asked a question about if there would be a flag on my account ,heres the answer i received:
As a result of this violation of the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct, your account has been marked with a temporary account block that will prevent access to the account for a period of time, if you have no previous account marks. If you have received prior administrative actions on your account, the timespan for your suspension may extend to a lengthier period, based on the number of previous infractions.
Seems they keep a record/flags on accounts,so maybe its not your first offence.
Oh , btw i was Code=045 for whisp swearing two gold sellers, go figure !!!!!!
